Code Red Emergency Notification SystemThe Town of Beech Mountain is encouraging citizens to register for CodeRED. CodeRED is a telephone communication service that allows us to quickly notify citizens about emergency situations via telephone, cell phone, text message and/or email notifications. The system is capable of sending messages only to specific neighborhoods or the entire community. All citizens and business are encouraged to register.

For what kinds of situations will CodeRED be used?

Severe weather situations, substantial utility outage, evacuation notices, missing or lost persons, fires or floods, major roadway issues, significant criminal situations, chemical spill or gas leak. In short, emergencies and community alerts.

The Town of Beech Mountain will use the CodeRED system to notify citizens about emergencies such as: Severe Weather – severe weather warning notifications will be issued within seconds after being issued by the National Weather Service. Weather notifications are issued for the immediate threats of severe thunderstorm warnings, flash flood warnings and tornado warnings. Other emergencies include:

  • BOLOs (Be On Look Out)
  • Utility outage
  • Road closures due to accidents
  • Missing/Lost person
  • Chemical spill or gas leak
  • Other emergency incidents where rapid and accurate notification is essential

Phone Registration: For residents without internet access, please call the Beech Mountain Police Department non-emergency phone line at 828-387-2342 during normal business hours and a Communication’s staff member will assist in the registration process.
