Care Trak Program

Lifesaver Program BadgeThe Beech Mountain Police Department offers this service for residents who care for loved ones who suffer from Alzheimer’s, autism, or other conditions which make the likely to wander away from caregivers. Care Trak bracelets can help rescuers find a loved one who has wandered away.

To participate in this program, the prospective participant must:

  • Reside within the town limits of Beech Mountain
  • Be diagnosed by a certified physician as having Alzheimer’s, dementia disorders, autism, Down’s Syndrome, or a similar disorder
  • Be known to wander from the protection of the caregiver

The participant will be given a plastic bracelet containing a waterproof radio transmitter. Each transmitter is assigned a radio frequency that is unique both to them and their geographical area. The bracelet will be worn on the wrist similar to a watch. If the participant goes missing the caregiver should call 911 immediately. The Beech Mountain Police Department will respond with personnel who are trained in the use of the tracking monitor to begin a search in conjunction with other emergency resources.
